our teacher didn't let us drink the soda water - Science - Distillisation of coke

Aime: To get pure water frim coke

Method:
This was our set up

We filled a conical flask with 50ml of coke and had a delivery tube leading in to a boiling tube that was surrounded with ice cold water.

Observations:

  1. In the conical flask you could see the coke go lower and lower due to the liquid evaporating
  2. In the boiling tube you could see fairly clear water. I believe it was tinted yellow but I'm unsure if that's because of some stuff on the tube or the actual water itself.

My amazing way on how to fiter dirty water

In science we had to come up with a way to filter water with only a limited equipment. We were also in a group of four and I would like to clarify that it wasn't my idead to place the funnels on an angle

We put a cloth in the first funnel and then filter paper in the next two. All of this then pours the water into the conical flask at the bottom. the only problem is that the mud just kind of sits at the top  and it  get clogged with mud.

This would probably work if we really did need it. The only problem is that I don't have half this stuff at home so it wouldn't quite work but oh well.

Look at this beautiful purple aesthitic picture thing

Have you ever heard of this beautiful thing called potassium permanganate
Image result for potassium permanganate
this beautiful pile of stuff
It creates a purple liquid when you mix it with water and in science we diluted it.

it created this really nice looking thing in this really bad photo so you can't really see it.

We filled the first tube up with 10ml of water and the rest of them are filled up to 5ml. Once the potassium permanganate was mixed in we then transfered 5ml to the next tube, then we took 5ml from that test tube and put it into the next tube, and so on.

One time the prime minister of NZ played the criminologist in the Rocky Horror Picture show

Yeah so that's a cool fact. In drama I'm playing the criminologist in the Time Warp. The criminologist is the guy who is narrating the story by the way.

I have learned that I don't really like performing in a role that isn't very funny. I do prefer roles where I can be overly dramatic or mess around with. Roles that I wouldn't mind playing is Draco Malfoy in A Very Potter Musical, Balaga or Bolkonsy from Natasha, Peirre and the great comet of 1812, Christine from Be More Chill.

A really weird musical is Something Rotten. It's a really good musical but it is about Shakespeare trying to steal this other guys play idea and so the other guy goes to a fortune teller and the fortune teller tells him that musicals, a play with song and dance, is the next best thing. So the other guy writes a musical about dancing eggs. it is really good and interesting but sorta weird.

I don't like cats though because I kinda feel like it's a bit overrated. Some of the songs I don't like but I do like some of the costuming and the dancers are amazing but the plotline doesn't interest me. Of course this is just my opinion.

I have to explain what a percentage is and how they work which is really hard.

So anyway in maths we're learning about some smexy decimals, fractions and percentages wow how fun. We got to chose how we displayed our work and I chose a infograph which is pretty cool I guess.

So this is how you convert stuff. I know beautiful very pure.

This is a good, beautiful, magnificent explanation of fractions.

Love it, it's a cinnamon bun too pure for this world

And then this piece of unfinished stuff because dO YoU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO EXPLAIN  DAMN PERCENTAGES and if you think that was bad the first one said "It's a number. It's like a number.".

Ok so something I learnt from working in a group is nothing because I didn't work in a group.
I did learn stuff from this unit which is great because if I didn't then the teacher would probably be mad at me so... But I would recommend Vennage as the website to use to make inforgraphs.

Wow look at these beautiful websites

To make smexy inforgraphs like mine: Vennage, 2018, https://venngage.com/
To learn about all that fun maths stuff: Mathisfun, 2018, https://www.mathsisfun.com/
And if any of the conversions are wrong you can blame my math teacher:

In math class we were talking about how aladdin doesn't have nipples, neither does Li Shang from Mulan or Gaston. So it's kinda related to maths so the question is why do you think they don't have nipples?

You thought this was gonna be a serious story didn't you? - English

Three of us. That was all that was left. Only we would survive to see the morning. At least that was the goal. We began to feel the struggle of keeping our eyes open, our human need of sleep fighting back trying to win. George was the first to go. There wasn’t much hope for him as he was one of the weaker people in the group. We didn’t know Jane would go next though. We had high hopes that she would survive the night. When she went all hope was lost. Now it was only the three of us. Sarah, Ophelia and Maccy B.

We all knew how hard it would be to go on but we tried our best. Maccy B and I were whispering our game plan when we noticed Ophelia hadn’t been talking much. That’s when we discovered she was a goner. Maccy B checked the time on his phone “5 more minutes”. It was sad that she gave up when we were so close. Maccy B and I waited. And waited. We then waited a bit more when we saw it begin. The four minutes were up and we finally beat the group’s sleepover record. Before this our record was staying up till 3am, now it was 7:30. We had all f*cked our sleeping schedules the way friends should, together.

Maccy B and I were planning on going to sleep once we reached the time goal but we couldn’t. We were already so awake we couldn't. We both sat there awkwardly. "Hey do you have your headphones?" I turn to my head to face Maccy B and nodded. "Do you wanna watch some sh*tty vines?" I nodded in reply. What better way to celebrate our amazing victory than to watch some high quality memes.

BY THE WAY Maccy B is pronounced Makky B. At the moment my friends and I are participating in Shakespeare Festival and we've nickname Macbeth as Maccy B. Also my record for staying up the longest is 10pm the next day which really f*cks with your sleeping schedule so don't do that

*in infomercial voice* Do YOU want to be more assertive? Well I have the stratergies for you!

In health we're learning how to be more assertive so here's stuff that I was told help you do that:

  1. Know your priorities - What is important to you and you won't negotiate about? Depending on the situation your priorities may vary.
  2. Eye contact - Make sure you keep eye contact and if you find it difficult to do that then look at someones forehead or nose.
  3. Body language - Posture is one of the main keys to being assertive. If you look and feel confident then you'll be confident.
  4. Voice - If your voice sounds confident and serious then people will know your being serious and are not up for negotiating.
  5. "I" statments - Instead of saying "you blah blah blah" try "I blah blah blah". For example: "You never do the dishs" try "I feel like I never do the dishs"
  6.   Small victorys - Becoming assertive can be a long process so even the small things help. You can practise when your arguing with someone at home or even just talking to yourself helps.

Watch me struggle to write about my culture - Social Studies

At the moment in Social Studies we are studying our culture and our past. We made a mindmap about our culture.

It being highlighted means nothing I was just procrastinating.

In special events we have birthdays. My family doesn't do too much for birthdays as we save all presents for christmas or just get none at all. We might go out to the zoo or something but that's about it

I wasn't to sure what to put for clothes as there aren't too many traditional clothes my family wears. I out the tallit as that's the only thing I could think of. A tallit, for those who don't know, is a jewish pray shawl that I've only worn twice. Once at my bat mitzvah and again on cultral day in Social Studies.

Speaking of Bar Mitzvahs, traditions (like that smoooooth transition?). I put Bar/Bat Mitzvahs which is a jewish persons entrance to adulthood. I had mine last year. I also put Chanukah which is the 8 day jewish festival of light.

Foods was sorta easy. I out hamantash which is a triangle cookie with a fruit filling. You eat it at purim. I also put latkes which is a potato pancake that we eat at chanukah. I also put lemon cake/loaf cause my mum makes it and it's really good. She also makes pavlova and one time she put purple food coloring in and it was purple so that was cool. I really like my mum. This is dedicate to my mum. And then there's deviled eggs which are really nice and easy to make. My dad makes really good ones.

Yeah so that's stuff about culture. Ok.

If you have never seen rocky horror picture show what are you doing with your life - Drama

In drama we are performing multiple musical performances. For our class performance we are performing time warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Personally I wouldn't want to perform at all and would rather help with costumes or literally anything else. I just really don't like performing but this is school so I kinda have to. oh well

I have a shield now so I guess that's cool

In health we made shields that represent us and define us as a person. We also learnt the qualitys of a good friend.

What did I share about myself?
- Stuff that I enjoy and my culture such as I'm jewish, I really love pins, and my mum, etc. I also share stuff that I feel are essentiel to who I am I guess, so things like my jean jacket that has pins and patches, the three bracelets I wear to school pretty much everyday, my phone (obviously), etc. I also shows the fact I can't draw five-pointed stars.

Was there anything that you felt difficult to share?
- Not really as most people already know this stuff about me and I'm not too afraid of what people will say. I did have worries about the pride flag more due to me being worried about what teachers might say (cause I'm pansexual/gay (I'm not sure if I'm pan or just gay)) but in the end I decided to put it on there

What did I learn about characteristics of a good friend?
- That our friends characteristics also define who we are and the way we act. If your friends have good characteristics then we will be influnenced in a good way

What friendship characteristics were most important to the class?
-Things that most people learn such as loyalty, honesty, respect, trust. It was also mostly even when the class had to vote almost all the values and qualitys were tied.

What did I learn about trust and different types of relationships?
- That there are different types of relationships and that trust is hard to earn.
look at all those values

It's my shield very cool much creative

Oh crap gotta do some art - Ruben Patterson edition

My favourite Ruben Patterson work which was in the Christchurch Art Gallery - Dats his art

They've composed their art well and have taking up a lot of space. You have a focal point and your eyes wander from there, just like the art streams from the center. And can take the way it flows and use it as some sort of reference for future art making.
