The meth PSA “ Jessica” from the Montana Meth Project displays the theme “the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol” very clearly. The theme is most clearly shown when the narrator describes how the girl, Jessica, forces her little brother to smoke meth with her. Through this scene, we see how the use of drugs and alcohol negatively affects familial relationships. If Jessica forces her brother to do meth with her, her brother may begin to resent her and the rest of his family. He may also form an addiction later on in life. The director also shows us how abusing meth can lead users into forcing innocent people into meth usage. This negatively affects the relationships meth users have. This is similar to how in Walk the Line, Elvis Presely's groupies peer pressure Johnny Cash to take drugs. Throughout the film, we see how this later negatively affects Johnny's relationships with others similar to what may happen to Jessica's little brother.
