Since the presentation of festival of the arts is coming up we had to figure out a way tp present our photos so we decided to do that in the form of a slide.

festival of the arts:Photography
At the moment in photography we are learning about forced perspective. Forced perspective is a optical illusion using perspective. A common one is making it look like you're holding up the leaning tower of pisa. We got to make some of our own. We couldn't make that many as there were only two of us.

Festival of the Arts Kete: Photography
For Festival of the arts I chose Photography out of the 7 options. In photography we are learning how to set up and take a good photo. We started off with going around and taking pictures of things that start or look like a letter of the alphabet. We weren't able to find all of the letters but we got most of them.

Art class: Superheros
In Art class we had to draw an exsiting superhero or create an OC (orginal character). I decided to make a OC named May Mcduck who is able to summon her duck army. I based her off one of my friends and ducks are usally associated with ducks. I don't really know why I choose her. It might've been because of her weird powers. I wasn't sure what my hero's powers were in the first place but then later decided to make it so she could summon a duck army. I'm not sure why I choose the colors I choose. I'm quite proud of how the dress came out with the blue and white.
100 word story about NZ in 2082
It’d be like futurama withthe head in the jar to people like Lorde, Peter Jackson and other famous people (not just New Zealanders). We’d have partnership with America’s president Kanye west or Dwayne Johnson and we’d trade whittakers for cinnamon toast crunch cereal. We might end up becoming a underwater city. We’d be like The Atlantis from the disney movie about Atlantis (Atlantis: The lost empire which is a very good movie you should watch it). We’d have a secret base under antarctica for a zombie apocalypse.
But if we’re talking real here then we would probably all be dead.

Quail island
'What is quail island?
Quail island, also known as Otamahua which means "where the children go to collect sea eggs", used to be a quarantine island where the extremely sick people with things like measles and leaprosy would live. Animals used in trips to antartica would go there to train and be checked for any illnesses
Where is Quail island
You have to take a boat from lyttelton harbour to get there.
History of Quail island
Quail island wasn't much use for Maori settlement as it had no rivers and you would have to go to the beach to get water but it was a good source of food.
It was brought by the Ward brothers in 1850 and they transported mulitple farm animals and wood so they can live and farm on the island. Unfortunatly towards the end the building process they drowned but this also meant that many introduced species now inhabited the island and this caused damage to the native flora and fauna.
They began to use it as a human quarantine for people mainly with leprosy. They also used it to quarantine dogs, ponies and other animals.
When steam boats were invented less people got sick which meant less people went to Quail island.
In present day a group of volunteers along with the Department of Conservation dedicate their time to restoring the island to its orginal native state which involves things like planting trees, helping the white flippered penguins find a home and keeping away many predators.
Links to our learning:
We went to Quail island so we can learn about how to keep our native flora and fauna alive and learn about the importance of looking after the land so that it is there for future generations.
Reflecting back on the trip I believe I learned a lot about how to keep the environment alive even though for most of the trip I was tired and my body was extremly sore, I shall ever forget the experince.

Kete: kaitiakitanga
Kaitiakitanga means guardinship and protection. In maori views this is typically applied to nature.
A way I could personaly contribute to is by checking for things like palm oil and those plastice beads in face wash products and other things. I can also pick up rubbish that I find and not litter and create a small garden

below is a collage of pictures that come to my mind when I think of Kaitiakitanga

Kete breakfast club
What did I learn from this experince?
- I learnt what it takes to orginaize an event
How did I contribute to the success?
- I helped put plates and stuff on table
What else could I have done
- I don't know. I mean all the jobs were being done so there wasn't much to do
What else could I have done to improve the breakfast
- Like I said before there wasn't much to do all the jobs were being done
Did my personality suit my role
- Yes
Where were the weaknesses?
- I don't know. I mean there weren't many jobs to be done unless your role was part of that job but otherwise I don't know

Gymnastics
I don't particularly like gymnastics because I end up worrying too much about what could happen like what if my foot broke or my back and stuff like that. It also hurts.
Today I liked the ease and the basics of gymnastics because I haven't done gymnastics in a while and also we weren't just thrown into with instructions. We were instead given instructions and the ability to do it at our level. I'm excited about doing the trampoline and the bar next week because I enjoy trampolines

100 bedtime stories for rebel girls is a kickstarter funded book filled with short summarys about woman throughout history. people including Nancy Wake, Jane Austen, Hillary Clinton and many more. The best part about this book is that it's completly made by woman from the drawings to the editing. I would rate this book 5/5.

Bussiness and Enterprise
In bussiness my company is called SnAZZY GOODS and we are selling bunny garlands and watercolor paintings. We had to all bring something that would contribute to our product in some way or another. An example would be bringing paintbrushes for the paintings. My company didn't need to take our a loan like the other groups did which meant that all money becomes profit. We made around 16 paintings that are all selling for $2 and 12 bunny garlands for $1. The paintings came out really good and a few people have said they'll buy one which makes me hopeful that we'll sell out of paintings. A few people said they like the bunny garlands so I doubt we'll sell out of bunny garlands but there is a chance. It doesn't matter too much of how much we sell as we didn't need a loan which is useful. We orginally going to make terrariums but we decided that it would be to expenseve and diffcult to make and then we were going to create painted rockes but then we scarped that for reasons I don't remember and setteled with watercolor paintings with bunny garlands as plan B. The market is on July 5th at Hornby High School in the school gym.

Graduate profile for the end of year 8
Two things I need to work on and how
I need to work on giving feedback:
I give really bad feedback but I know that for someone to improve they need honest opinions but I don't want to hurt feelings which causes me to give really plain feedback so if I work on trying to give more detail in my feedback I should improve.
Sharing my ideas with people
I don't think I share my ideas with people because their too inside the rubber duck and it would freak people out so I'll try and think more outside the box and share my crazy ideas.

Destroying School Phase 1 (12/5)
Our school is going through phase one of a rebuild of the school. They have started to destroy the front of the school. Next week they would've destroyed the library and most likely the rest of the office building and began destroying the walkway. When taking a good look at all the rouble it almost reminds me of the earthquake. After the total destruction of that area they will begin phase 1 of the building.
Because of these photos it reminds me of the earthquake
The walkway that shall be destroyed

More rouble

Mini golf course
In class we are learning about the forces and creating examples of them to create a mini golf course. My partner Sam and I are creating a camping grounds crime scene type thing. Below is what we hope it will look like.

Maths (yay)
In maths we were given 7 numbers and signs: +, =, x, 3, 7, 8 and 5. It was fairly difficult to figure it out but we got it in the end.
It turned out that it was 3 x 5 = 7 + 8. Or the other way round but it works both ways.
