If you have never seen rocky horror picture show what are you doing with your life - Drama

In drama we are performing multiple musical performances. For our class performance we are performing time warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Personally I wouldn't want to perform at all and would rather help with costumes or literally anything else. I just really don't like performing but this is school so I kinda have to. oh well

I have a shield now so I guess that's cool

In health we made shields that represent us and define us as a person. We also learnt the qualitys of a good friend.

What did I share about myself?
- Stuff that I enjoy and my culture such as I'm jewish, I really love pins, and my mum, etc. I also share stuff that I feel are essentiel to who I am I guess, so things like my jean jacket that has pins and patches, the three bracelets I wear to school pretty much everyday, my phone (obviously), etc. I also shows the fact I can't draw five-pointed stars.

Was there anything that you felt difficult to share?
- Not really as most people already know this stuff about me and I'm not too afraid of what people will say. I did have worries about the pride flag more due to me being worried about what teachers might say (cause I'm pansexual/gay (I'm not sure if I'm pan or just gay)) but in the end I decided to put it on there

What did I learn about characteristics of a good friend?
- That our friends characteristics also define who we are and the way we act. If your friends have good characteristics then we will be influnenced in a good way

What friendship characteristics were most important to the class?
-Things that most people learn such as loyalty, honesty, respect, trust. It was also mostly even when the class had to vote almost all the values and qualitys were tied.

What did I learn about trust and different types of relationships?
- That there are different types of relationships and that trust is hard to earn.
look at all those values

It's my shield very cool much creative

Oh crap gotta do some art - Ruben Patterson edition

My favourite Ruben Patterson work which was in the Christchurch Art Gallery - Dats his art

They've composed their art well and have taking up a lot of space. You have a focal point and your eyes wander from there, just like the art streams from the center. And can take the way it flows and use it as some sort of reference for future art making.

Only respect for MY president H.R Pufnstuf

In social studies we had to create a family crest. Below is a picture of the family crest I created.

  1. The star at the top is the star of David and is associated with the Jewish people. If you haven't figured it out, I'm jewish.
  2. On the left is the flag of New Zealand and on the right is the American flag. I have dual citizenship for both countries.
  3. The two main colors are yellow and green. The yellow is for Hufflepuff (my hogwarts house) and Slytherin (my mum's house)
  4. Then H.R Pufnstuf because my mum and I love that show and also because why the frick not
  5. My mum has chickens so...
  6. And then my last name
Oh and a seel paragraph. (very cool, much long)

A family crest usually is used to represent a family. It was mainly used in medieval times for royal familys and they were everywhere, in their clothes, on rings, to seal letters, etc. My crest has things that make my family us, such as H.R Pufnstuf, the flags, and the star of david. I have a family crest from my great grandmothers family, the Hornstein family, but I'm unsure if it's the official crest.

Act 1 songs of musicals

In Drama we have to chose 3 songs from musicals for the class to perform.

  1.  Non-stop - Hamilton                                                                                                                       Non-stop is a song where pretty much everyone from Act 1 all sing and there's overlapping lyrics and has no limit of people needed. The problem is there are a few high note that can be hard to reach. Also there are a parts that are sung without an ensemble.
  2. Why we build the wall - Hadestown                                                                                           This song isn't as upbeat as the other two songs and there isn't any high notes so it's not too hard and most of the time your singing with others so it's perfect for a group who doesn't really want to sing. It is a bit more of a boring and gloomy song but it's good for people who aren't really into singing. There's one lead that has a few solo parts and the rest is as group.
  3. The Abduction - Natasha, Pierre & the great comet of 1812                                                        Really almost any song from this musical could work. Most of them have ensemble parts and some have solo parts for people who want to sing solo. There are quite a few parts too. There are a few high notes and also some long note but nothing too major. The other songs in this musical I would suggest are BalagaPrologue and possibly The great comet of 1812 which I believe is the final song.

Dance in musicals

Who is famous for choreography in musicals?
-Obviously where would dance be like in musicals without chroreography. This website has a list of famous choreographers through out the years

What type of dance in most popular in musicals?
- Usually ballet, jazz and tap but hip hop is starting to also become popular

Where is the musical with the best dance playing at?
- I would say three that have good dance numbers is Newsies, West Side Story and A Chorus Line. (Of course there are other musicals that also have great choreography).

When did dance become popular in musicals?
- It's supposed around the 18th century (source)

Why do we use dance in mucials?
- We use dance in musicals to express an action, a place, because it's the plot (refer to a Chorus Line)

How long does it take to learn choreography for a musical?
- It depends on how much dance is in the musical. For Hamilton it can be around 6 months but for something like Dear Evan Hansen roughly a few weeks.
